Hey, thanks for stopping by.
I'm Jeri Westerson and simply put: I write mysteries. Medieval mysteries. Mysteries with an enigmatic, flawed, sexy, and very different protagonist. His name is Crispin Guest and he's an ex-knight turned criminal investigator. You might want to think of him as a Medieval Sam Spade and these mysteries as Medieval Noir. That's what makes him and these novels different. They're full of hard-hitting action and characters with dirty little secrets. Then there's the added twist dropped in the middle of murder: a relic with mystical powers. They always seem to stir things up, whether it's something everyone wants to get their hands on or can't wait to get rid of.
Now the first outing is VEIL OF LIES, to be released by St. Martin's Minotaur, November 2008. When Crispin is hired to do a job for the richest merchant in London it seems like any other routine case: follow the wife to see if she’s unfaithful. Simple. But when the merchant is found dead the next morning it opens a nest of lies, sexual seduction, and dangerous secrets involving a tight-lipped Arab, the fourteenth century equivalent of the Italian "mob", and a mysterious cloth with the face of Christ.
I think Readers will be fascinated by the fourteenth century time period, the medieval London setting, the intrigue of King Richard II's court, the mysterious relics that propell the story, Crispin's angst and romance, the murder and whodunnit, his reformed cutpurse protege Jack Tucker's next adventures...oh so much more than your average medieval mystery.

Some personal facts: I was born and bred in Los Angeles and so far have not managed to live outside of Southern California. I've been writing fiction for some time, became a freelance reporter, published award-winning short stories, and am anxiously awaiting the publication of my first novel VEIL OF LIES in fall 2008 (and you can read an excerpt at www.JeriWesterson.com)
Besides writing I am a public speaker, used to teach theology, sometimes sing semi-professionally, and I'm still an artist, wife, and mother. I am also a member of the Society of Creative Anachronism (sometimes), Mystery Writers of America (you betcha!), and Sisters in Crime (all the way, baby!). I live with my photographer husband, seventeen-year-old son, two cats, one tortoise, and an occasional tarantula in Southern California.
Old movies, wine, history, Harry Potter, chocolate, and all things British. Did I mention chocolate?
